A stainless steel knife with a diamond blade is the best choice for chopping up the meat. You can use the knife to cut the coconut flesh as well. Then it will slide into the paring bag or strainer without any problems. A large rubber baking sheet will prevent spillage and absorb the juice.
A wooden spoon or fork is used to scrape the meat from the inside of the coconut flesh. You will need at least two spoons for scraping. Peel the outer skin of the coconut flesh to get the meat. Then use the fork to scoop out the meat. Do not pass the unripe husk through the knife or you will risk cutting up the husk.
